Very informative. We learned so much about the ratios that makes a good perfume. The host, Mustafa was very knowledgeable, friendly and welcoming. A lovely venue to have the workshop too! Includes some snacks and unlimited tea and coffee.Amazing time spent on a rainy morning with Ali at Istanbul Workshop! The perfume making experience was incredibly unique, special and well organized.
A group of us waited at the meeting point before heading to the workshop on the Asian side of Istanbul. It is held in the outdoor area of a very cute coffee shop, creating a wonderful ambiance, and they also host lamp making and coffee workshops! Unlimited tea, coffee and sweets as advertised.
Ali was very friendly and knowledgeable, and he patiently explained the components of a perfume and recommendations for ratios. I came out with a personalized perfume that smells divine and is very me. Couldn’t be happier with experience; definitely recommend and hope to be back!!The guide was knowledgeable and personable, and the location was very pleasant. This was a fun way to spend an afternoon and also leave with a souvenir of the occasion. And this part of Istanbul was a vibrant and interesting area to explore.تجربه رائعه جدا ❤️Great activity, well explain and with a lovely host. I would recommand it for sure !Beyzanur was amazing from the start till the end. She explained the history behind it all and made sure that we knew what we were doing by explaining everything step by step. On top of that all the snack and drinks provided, all you had to do was ask and within 2 minutes it was brought to you. I cannot recommend this activity enough if you’re in Istanbul. If you’re worried about getting there, they will meet you on the European side to take you over to the Asian side which is one less thing to worry about. Everyone there is so nice and friendly, this made our trip. Beyzanur even gave us recommendations of where to go and eat on this side and it did not disappoint.the workshop was amazing and our guide so kind and funny. Super course and explanation of how to make perfume, plus we all got to take away the perfume that we made. Plenty of tea and coffee provided during the course. Very enjoyable afternoon. Only drawback was that this was not held at the place listed and we had to travel to the venue which wasn’t well explained in the booking. She took the time to explain and show us how to create our designs and even though she thought her English wasn't good, she needn't have worried as we understood her perfectly. Our works of art came out great and she made sure that we were always stocked up on tea and cookies. Gladly would take her class again.
Areas that need to improve are communication as it was a bit chaotic. We were contacted the day before to ask whether we wanted to meet at the studio or meet at an agreed location. The location listed on the advert (Hafiz Mustafa 1864) was 1 min from where we were staying so we opted for this option and were advised that we would be met at 11.30am the next day (confirmation sent 2345 the day before). On the day of the activity at about 1105 we were called and told that classes were overrunning and they were busy so we'd need to make our own way there (it's a metro ride away but it's the principle and the very late notice). Instructions were sent and we made our way to the studio only for the class to start at 12.25/12.30 rather than the 12.00 start time advertised (despite the advert stating to be 5 mins early). As mentioned above Eda was great and we have zero complaints about her. She would get 5 stars and this review score of 4 is in no way a reflection of her.
Once we had finished our art it needed 45 mins to dry and instead of being able to stay where we were, it felt a bit rushed to ask us to sit in the garden area (which is unpleasant as people smoke there) so another class (not Eda's ) could start. We'd barely finished and she'd just gone to take our art to dry when we were asked to move.
On the balance would probably visit the venue / workshop again but the confused communication, late notice and urgency to vacate our workspace felt quite impersonal; business or not. A suggestion would be to just advise customers to make their way to the venue and remove the offer of meeting in Sirkeci (based on our experience). The workshop was very cosy and time flew by. We got a welcome tea and at the start a good explanation. During the workshop there was a coffee or tea and delicious cookies. The advice on patterns and colors was good. The activity was a good break from sightseeing and we have a beautiful lamp to bring home.
